X-height- Located between the baseline and the cap height. It's the height of the body of the lowercase letter
Typography Basics
a.) Typography- the art and technique of arranging type, type meaning letters and characters
b.) Typography is important because every font, letter, and character arrangement plays a part in determining how a message is conveyed. Even the smallest of type adjustments can impact the look and feel of your work.
c.) Hierarchy is when artists use different weights (bold, regular, light), styles (italics) and sizes to create a sense of order in their text
d.) Ascender- The portion of a letter that extends above mean line of a font
Descender- The longest point on a letter that falls beyond the baseline
Stem- The base of a letter, similar to the stem of a flower
Bar- The bar that that goes across the inside of the letter and connects one side to another
Cap height- The distance from the baseline to the top of the capital letter
Baseline- The line where the letter sit
